The ideal amount of coffee varies depending on the brewing method, as each method requires different extraction times and grind sizes. Below, you’ll find an overview of the recommended amounts for the most common brewing methods:
Portafilter: For a classic espresso, use approx. 18–20 g of finely ground coffee per double shot.
Filter coffee: Around 10–12 g of medium-ground coffee per cup (200 ml) is enough.
French Press: Use 10–12 g of coarsely ground coffee per cup.
Moka pot: 15–18 g of medium to finely ground coffee is recommended.
Please note: Depending on the coffee variety, roast, and brewing method, it may make sense to adjust the grind size and brewing time slightly. Feel free to try different settings. Even small adjustments can noticeably change the taste. This way, you can gradually find out how to make your favorite coffee just the way you like it.
