As a natural product, green coffee can never be completely free of foreign matter, despite all the care taken during processing in the countries of origin and during the long transport route to the production facilities.
For this reason, roasteries install extensive cleaning systems for receiving green coffee and for the entire production process. In detail, this can mean that the production process from the delivery of the green coffee through roasting to packaging is hermetically sealed, preventing foreign matter from entering afterward.
In addition, complex quality checks are carried out continuously. These quality checks include, for example, destoners, metal detectors or high-performance magnets, three-dimensional sorting with camera detection, and more.
Despite the filtering carried out by the roasteries, foreign matter can still become mixed with the beans and enter your grinder unnoticed. To prevent this as well, some manufacturers of fully automatic machines, for example, use built-in foreign object protection systems.
In any case, you should always be careful when filling in beans.
